Au Pair Abroad

Au pair abroad

Being an au pair is a cultural exchange, and you live with a local host family for a pre-agreed period, and enter "on an equal terms" with the rest of the family.

As an au pair, you help look after children and perform household duties. You receive pocket money, as well as free board and lodging. At the same time, on days off and during holidays you have the opportunity to explore other parts of the country than the one you live in.

It is a unique opportunity to both improve your language skills, make friendships and experiences for life, and expand your horizons. You learn to stand on your own two feet, and take a lot of enriching experiences home with you in your backpack.

When you travel as an au pair with Aupairagent, you can be sure that we have your well-being and interests in mind. We prepare you carefully for your au pair stay, and you can always contact us with questions or the like. The cooperation with other global au pair agencies is your guarantee of ending up in a good host family with good conditions.

Freja: Au pair in San Diego, USA

"The weather is absolutely fantastic most of the time here, and it is enjoyed to the fullest. San Diego has an average of 250 days of sunshine per year, which is a great thing to be happy about. Even when the sun is not shining, it is still warm, so there is plenty of time for outdoor activities. One of the activities I have especially fallen in love with is hiking. There are so many fantastic opportunities around San Diego and California. This has led to a trip to Death Valley, Potato Chip Rock, Torrey Pines and a lot of other hike trails around California and Hawaii. I meet up with other au pairs once a month. It is incredibly nice to meet people who are in the same situation as me, and it leads to so many new acquaintances.
It is so wonderful to be an au pair in USA  and to be a part of a hostfamily that takes you under the wing and introduces you to all the American traditions, and you get to share Danish traditions with them. You get the best of both countries. You get so many new memories and experiences that you wouldn't normally have back home in Denmark."

Victoria: Au pair in Australia:

"I am having a fantastic time as an au pair in Australia. I have experienced everything from art exhibitions, one of the most beautiful libraries I have ever seen, to an Australian rules football match and The Outback, where I have seen kangaroos, learned how to harvest cotton – and much more. On top of all these experiences, I have made friends for life and been part of the most amazing family. This trip has been absolutely unforgettable so far, so I can definitely recommend traveling the world as an au pair!"

Rikke: Au pair in the Rocky Mountains, Canada:

"I had an exciting experience as an au pair in Canada. I experienced magnificent nature, and was part of a wonderful family. When I needed to turn some things around with Karina from aupairagent.dk, she was always available, and it was nice to have that support even though I was far away. I made a good friend and have improved my English to a great extent. It was definitely a cultural experience has been fun. Canada has a magnificent nature, and I lived in the Rocky Mountains, and got to both kayak and hike. I have had an experience of a lifetime."
